Thesis Statement

Thesis statement:  Every part of the bicycle should be 3D printed with different materials to have maximal customization while having desirable quality and affordability. Support 1: Lower cost leads to better affordability.  Support 2: Allows plenty of customizations. Support 3: A variety of material choices for 3D printing. Counterargument: Even though 3D printing allows people to design and build their own bicycles, some people prefer to buy finished products from manufacturers for convenience.

Summary on "3D Printed Bicycle Frames>> (draft 2)

Thesis statement: Every part of the bicycle should be 3D printed with different materials to have maximal customization while having desirable quality and affordability. According to the article <<3D Printed Carbon Fibre Bicycle Frames>>. It costs more than 600 dollars for enthusiasts to make customized bicycle frames from traditional materials such as steel, but 3D printing technology provides a choice that has more affordability, efficiency and simplicity (Androole, ND, Custom 3D Printed Carbon Fibre Bike Frame, https://www.instructables.com/Custom-3D-Printed-Carbon-Fiber-Bike-Frame/). Androole stated that building bicycle frames with the aid of 3D printing allows   customizations on features and functions , such as comfort, stiffness, strength, efficiency, high strength-to-weight ratio and malleability, therefore carbon fibre is extremely suitable to make bicycle frames.   According to Androole's blog, the final product has three groups of components, tubes, 3D print

Summary of Custom 3D Printed Carbon Fiber Bike Frame Draft 1: Thesis statement: Carbon fibre is a great material for bicycle frame It costs more than 600 dollars for enthusiasts to make customized bicycle frames from traditional materials such as steel, but 3D printing technology provides a choice that has more affordability, efficiency and simplicity.   Building bicycle frames with the aid of 3D printing allows customizations on features and functions , such as comfort, stiffness, strength, efficiency, high strength-to-weight ratio and malleability, therefore carbon fibre is extremely suitable to make bicycle frames.   The final product has three groups of components, tubes, 3D printed joints, and outer reinforcement made of epoxy and carbon fibre. The materials of the tubes can even be bamboo as the final product will be reinforced by epoxy and carbon fibre.   First, with the assistance of software like BikeCAD, alternative frame designs can be generated with detailed ge

Task 3: The Importance of Communication Skills for Engineers

“Communication skills are an essential component in the education of engineering students to facilitate not just students’ education but also to prepare them for their future careers.” Marc Riemer, Faculty of Engineering, Monash University (2007)  Communication is the exchange of ideas, information, opinions, and knowledge so that the message is received and understood with clarity and purpose.  In an effective communication, the sender provides necessary ideas, thoughts, opinions, knowledge, and data while the receiver needs to actively listen to that. For example, without effective communication skills, an employee may send emails that lack the necessary information and resulting in team members asking him for more information and eventually more emails are needed. This wastes time and lacks efficiency. With effective communication, the email would contain all necessary information, data, and guidelines to avoid questions and uncertainties, and contribute to a more efficient working

Self-introduction of Chris Chi Shundao

Dear Dr Brad Blackstone, Please let me take this opportunity to introduce myself as a new student attending your Critical Thinking and Communicating module at Singapore Institute of Technology. My name is Chi Shundao, and I graduated from Republic Polytechnic with a diploma in Industrial and Operation’s Management. I developed a solid foundation in statistical and management skills. These experiences enabled me to manage the operation, inventory and product quality through data analysis skills and contribute to the improvement in efficiency and cost-saving for companies. Even though I was mainly trained and specialized in analytical and management skills, I have a great passion for engineering design. Therefore I learnt engineering design skills during my free time and applied what I learnt in the final year project. Eventually, I obtained an A grade. This impressive achievement was then noticed by one of the professors at Republic Polytechnic. He recommended me to a design company tar
